Nepali Congress candidate Dr Shekhar Koirala has been elected CA member by securing 12071 votes from Morang 7 in the by-elections held Friday.
His nearest opponent Chum Naryan Tebedar of Madhesi Janadhikar forum secured 11379 votes. MJF has lost one seat in the CA with this result. MJF had won from this constituency in the CA elections last year.
Talking to journalists after the results were announced Koirala said, the people voted for democracy.
